Ptx3 belongs to the family of “long pentraxins”, which have C-terminal pentraxin domains and novel amino-terminal domains. Ptx3 binds selected pathogens, including Aspergillus fumigatus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella typhimurium.
